Youth for Truth/TOB

This past weekend I was given the opportunity to attend one day of the Youth for Truth conference. It was an eye opening experience. Most of the things I had already heard before, don't have sex before marriage, dress modestly, ect, ect. We all hear it, whether we go to public school, private school, and if you're home schooled it's pounded into your head.

It's not necessarily what they were saying but the context of what was said. Some points finally clicked. I believe the main reason why this conference touched many of these kids lives was because these were real people exposing their faults and mistakes. Kids didn't have to ask why because they already had the answer. It wasn't "because I said so" either. That reason NEVER works. Pam did an amazing job at explaining why it is so important to remain abstinent. It wasn't only for faith reasons. She very clearly explained the heath and emotional consequences that occur after premarital sex. That's important for teens. Simply saying because it's the rule will not work. Chris did an amazing talk as well. Being a man he was able to portray how their (men's) minds work and the importance of modesty.

I know many girls whom were touched by this conference. Most of them belonging to my youth groups and/or TOB (Theology of the Body).

Sunday afternoon I was lucky enough to join the Christy's TOB group before youth group started. It was an amazing way to end the weekend. They did a wonderful job at teaching the class and have many exciting activities, such as a small retreat at the Roper's house, lined up in the future. I was also invited to attend the retreat and future classes. I am looking forward to being apart of this as well as spending time with some of my favorite kids. They are like the little sisters I never had.
