This is my search letter I wrote (by hand) to all the kids I don't know personally.
Hey! I hope you are having a great time so far this weekend. The full name of this retreat is Search for Christian Maturity. This weekend we are learning how to live out our faith in every day life. We are all searching for this among other things. We are searching; searching for ourselves; searching for acceptance; searching for friendship; searching for love; searching for forgiveness; and searching for a closer relationship with God. I hope you find whatever it is you are searching for and I hope this retreat helps you on your journey through Confirmation.
Remember to be yourself this weekend. This is a safe zone and we all want to get to know you! We are here praying for you. If you ever need to talk feel free to come find me or anyone else from team. We are here for you! (the you has a squiggle under it)

Never Giving Up
There seem to certain people in my life that I give chances to over and over again. Some of them are obvious Hannah Varney and Andrew Wallace for starters. Another person would be my dad. Most of the time he seems to let me down and never exactly acts like a dad should.
I'm sitting here thinking about my sister and her being in the hospital. She isn't in critical condition, she is supposed to be fine. I sent her a facebook message saying.."I heard you were in the hospital. How are you doing?" She still hasn't responded. It's been three days and she has been on facebook since then. That is beside the point though, before I did this I sent my dad a text. I told him if he wanted to see her I would go with him and he simply replied no. He didn't want to see her. Later that night though he asked me about the text. He wanted to know if I wanted to see her and if I did he would go because he didn't want me to do that alone. My dad doesn't support me in much, he hardly supports me at all but he would have supported me in this. And doing that, seeing my sister and possibly my mother after four years would have been the hardest thing I had ever done. He would have supported me in this.
I think it's impossible to cut some people out of your life despite how many times they disappoint you or let you down because sometimes they surprise you and end up being there when you would need them the most.

The Forest Part 2
This girl's name was Kim. Kim wandered around the forest for what seemed like years. The days and night blurred together. She couldn't seem to find her way back. Pretty soon she felt helpless. She didn't think there was any hope and she gave up. She laid on the forest floor for what seemed like eternity. Her consciousness drifted in and out until one day she heard a baby bird.
The bird had fallen out of it's nest and broken it's wing. Kim's instant response was to help. She took the bird in and cared for it. She would feed it, keep it safe and warm. In no time at all the baby bird could fly again. She knew she had saved the bird but hadn't discovered how much that bird had actually saved her. She thought about the bird for a few days. One night, she was remembering how broken and hopeless it seemed when it fell out of the nest and how now it was off living it's life. She fell asleep thinking this and she woke up with a renewed sense of hope.
She realized that she could do this. Kim set off to find her way out and this time she embraced all the natural abilities God had given her. She seemed to be making some progress, or at least she wasn't walking in circles anymore. She knew she still had a long way to go though. Whenever she noticed that a creature needed some help, some hope, she did the best she could to restore it to its previous state.
Kim had finally found a path that seemed promising. It was a decent day. Slightly warm and occasionally the sun would peek out. While she was walking, she heard something. It sounded like a girl crying. Kim followed the weeping sound and to her surprise found someone. A girl that seemed to be about the same age as her.

The Forest Part 1
Once upon a time there was a girl whom ventured into the forest. She knew without a doubt that she would like the forest but she didn't realize how quickly that like would turn to love. The days passed by rapidly and with each step she plunged further and further until she was no longer on the path she once begun. Slowly the weather started changing. The warm, bright, and sunny days grew shorter and shorter. Each day it became colder and the storm grew closer.
It began to rain. The girl decided she could wait it out. She didn't think the rain would last more than a few days. This time she was right. After a few cold, dreary nights the clouds parted. It was warm again but, the warmth wouldn't stay. It would rain again, sometimes a few days, other times a few weeks but each time she waited it out, waited for the sun to come back. As days and weeks passed the weather became unpredictable, she never knew whether it would dreary or bright. Then the storm came. This storm was different from the others. It was more harsh. It was colder and the rain flooded everything around her. She finally decided that she was done, she couldn't wait for the sun to come back this time. She wanted out, it wasn't worth it, the sun never stayed long enough anymore and the days kept getting colder and more severe.
She started to make her way out but she didn't realize until that moment how deep she had gotten. She searched for the path she began on but it was no where to be seen. She found herself walking in circles and the paths she did find never lead her to better days. After searching down a beaten path, she found herself worse off than she had been before. It wasn't until this moment she understood just how lost she was.
