I started this a few days ago and I find myself not being able to put it down. This novel has many different perspectives. Each chapter is someone different. The book centers on Calli. Calli has selective mutism, that was brought on by a tragedy when she was toddler. She has gone missing along with her best friend Petra. I enjoy the different perspectives. It has her mother, Antonia, her brother, Ben, Petra's father, Martin, and Deputy Louis, her mother's high school sweetheart, and Petra. There are also chapter's on Calli but those are all told in third person. I love knowing how each character is reacting to what is happening in the story line and how it effects them and what they think or feel about it. I'm about half way or so through the book. I should be finished in a day or two.

Memory Keeper's Daughter

A few days ago I finished reading The Memory Keeper's Daughter. I originally got this book for Christmas my senior year but I was enrolled into two literature class during the spring and I never was able to read it until now. It was a very good but also sorrowful. It begins when Dr. David Henry delivers his twin children and notices an abnormality in his daughter. She has Down syndrome and he believes it would be best for all parties involved if she were to go to an institution. He asks his nurse Caroline to take her there except she doesn't have the heart to leave the little girl in that place. Instead she takes her home, moves to a different city, and raises her as her own. The novel is about how this secret haunts the lives of David Henry and his family. There is not a happy ending to this book but it is rather similar to life. A few doors close, some relationships end while others prosper, it is never the end though. Life goes on, a new door always opens up.

Change
Change. It's funny thing. Some people are desperate for it, others fear it. It happens though. It happens regardless of whether we want it to or not. It doesn't happen over night yet it some days we look in the mirror and wonder how we got to this place. We look at the person staring back and we don't know who they are. We change everyday, like the leaves in the fall. Slowly. The color slips away. They fall and whither. They disappear awhile but are born again a few short months later. Change is constantly happening. We just have to embrace each moment as it comes before it changes and disappears.
I could have written so much more about this but I desperately needed some sleep last night.

Graduations
The last two weekends have been amazing as well as tiring. This past weekend Kristen graduated and had her party. On the way there I of course got lost and it took an 2.5 hours instead of the hour and forty minutes it should have taken. It was pretty upsetting at first but it was well worth it. The party was great. I got to see some awesome people (Juliana, Mary, Michael, Megan,) and meet Alyssa who I've heard a lot about. She was pretty awesome. We played outside in the rain and brought out my bat and hit a few rounds (Kristen it most of the balls I threw, pretty impressive!). I didn't end up getting home until 11:30. It was the best time I've ever had with Kristen fo sho.
The weekend prior to that I spend in St. Joe. It was a jam packed weekend and very exhausting. It as well was an amazing time overall. I watched Megan graduate and play the piano flawlessly. I did dislike the piano at the museum though. It wasn't nearly as good as the ones I've heard her on before. I have most of the songs recorded on my phone. It died before I could record the duets she did with her brothers. It was all very beautiful.
Next week is Ray-Pec graduation. It'll be crazy insane and near impossible to find the people I want to see. My graduating class was over 400, I'm not sure what it is this year. I have many friends graduating but my main reason is Krissy. Her party is Sunday. It will be extremely rad.
School is finished and my plans for the summer include work, church, the gym, and tons of books. I have to enroll in the fall semester still. I haven't decided what I want to take yet. I'm thinking I'll take the Bible as Literature. Right now I'm reading the Memory Keeper's daughter. It is slightly slow but so far it is really good.
